Congratulations to our Racing Captain Mark Taylor,
with Marbella (SC28), who has won the Silver Gilt
Roman Bowl in the 2007 Round the Island Race. Racing
in the Island Sailing Club's rating system of over
700 yachts, Mark beat Richard Johnson and Anjajo
(SC78) into second place by just 9 seconds. It is the
first time since the 1950s that a SCOD has won this
trophy.
In ideal sailing conditions, good wind and smooth sea, all four SCOD's entered finished in the top 50, Jon Carver and Black Velvet (SC39) finished 9th overall whilst Kevin McBride and (Bush Baby (SC66), having only bought her earlier this year, finished 47th.
A fifth SCOD, Jaik Tari's Stirling (SC104), raced with the IRC boats (please see explanation from Jaik on the forum.
